2018

CWM is organizing the first Worldwide Meeting for Women in Mathematics in Rio as a satellite event of ICM. See report here.

The CWM 2018 call for Networks and Schools received 57 applications of which CWM decided to support 12. Most grants are for developing regional networks for Women in Mathematics, in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. This is the case in Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Uzkekistan and in the Balkan region.  An activity inspired by the series of meetings "Women in ..." will take place for the first time in South America, in Uruguay. The African Women in Mathematics Association will also be writing portraits of African women mathematicians, and a video with Faces of Women in Mathematics all over the world supported. Two further events are taking place in Europe, an ICTP school in Trieste (Italy) , and the European Women in Mathematics General Meeting taking place in Graz (Austria). In both cases the CWM grant will be used to support the attendance of women from developing countries.  See report here.

U K : Faces of Women in Mathematics

Faces of Women in Mathematics, a short film for International Women’s Day 2018.

This project aims to create a short film featuring women mathematicians from around the world to be released for International Women’s Day in order to promote the image of mathematics as a career and interest for women and girls everywhere.

The film will consist of an edited sequence of film clips of women or girls saying into the camera "I am (name) from (country), and I am a mathematician!” in the language of their choice. It could also include clips of groups of women or girls with a similar sentence. Some improvisation is fine, but in order to fit in as many clips as possible, they should be short.
